Fresh Off The Tree
Our Story
It all started in a little town called Shelley, Idaho, where my dad grew up farming. His love for working outside and eating the fruit of your labor naturally rubbed off on his children, especially me. What started out as a hobby for my dad became one of my own passions. This isn't just my story because there are many hands which contribute. I am the youngest of six children and grew up working in our fruit orchard and large garden. We started selling our excess produce with a simple sign on the side of the road. We still use simple signs, but we decided it was time to advertise on a broader scale due to the significant growth of our fruit orchard.
The pictures on our website are shots from our fruit orchard; it is where many spring and summer hours are spent! Peaches are what we have the biggest quantity of; however, we grow all different types of fruit trees and vegetables and enjoy selling the excess to others who enjoy fresh produce as much as we do.
The Back Story of "Our Story"
I grew up loving to work in the dirt with my parents and my 5 siblings. Our family orchard became my own sanctuary. I'm a country girl at heart who grew up in the city of North Ogden and our fruit orchard provided the solitude I yearn for. There are few places I would rather be.
I went to BYU to become a Registered Nurse, but at the time I graduated, it was quite difficult to get a job as a new grad fresh out of school and with zero nursing experience. While I was applying to nursing jobs in the spring of 2012, I realized that the 600 peach trees we had planted several years previously were getting more mature and that year we were definitely going to have A LOT of peaches. I began to brainstorm how we were going to get rid of all these peaches because even though my dad was well known for giving fresh fruit away to neighbors and family...we didn't have enough neighbors or family to handle the amount of peaches we were expecting that year!
I thought of a couple of possible business names and logos and sent out a group text to my family to get a vote. I'm not sure they thought I was serious, but I was. And Fresh Off The Tree, LLC was born! We have been selling fresh fruit and vegetables ever since. It has been a wonderful journey and something our family loves doing together. There is nothing better than working hard with your family :)
And in case you were wondering, I did end up getting a nursing job that year. I work full time as a mom, PRN as a Registered Nurse and endless hours in our orchard. I love it!
